Child DEDICATIONS

Child Dedication

Child dedication is a special moment where parents publicly commit to raising their child in a Christ-centered home. It’s also a time for our church family to come alongside them in prayer and support.

Why Dedicate Instead of Baptize Babies?

In the Bible, baptism is consistently connected to a personal decision to follow Jesus—something that comes through understanding and faith (see Matthew 28:19 and Acts 2:38). Because of this, we believe baptism is best reserved for individuals who are old enough to make that decision for themselves.

Child dedication, on the other hand, is modeled in Scripture when parents present their children to the Lord. For example, 1 Samuel 1:27–28 shows Hannah dedicating Samuel, and in Luke 2:22, Mary and Joseph present Jesus at the temple.

What Happens at a Child Dedication?

  • Parents commit to raising their child in faith
  • Pastors pray a blessing over the child
  • The church commits to supporting the family spiritually

Our heart

We see child dedication as the beginning of a spiritual journey, not the end. Our hope is that one day, each child will make their own personal decision to follow Jesus and choose to be baptized.
